Don't believe the lie that the right have no ideas and no leaders. Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin are leaders who are leading people somewhere they want to go.
As usual it was Rush Limbaugh leading the way. He was the first political commentator with enough insight and courage to say what so many others were thinking, “I hope he fails.” If you listen to his program you know that this was immediately and repeatedly expanded to explain that he was referring to the President’s policies. He even clarified it further by saying, "Hey, I support the president. I just don't support his policies." He even went so far as to entitle the transcript that refers to these statements, “We Want the President's Policies to Fail So Everyone Can Succeed.” Some may still find this shocking, why would anyone hope a brand new president’s policies fail? The original quote comes from an editorial Rush wrote on the Friday before the inauguration in which he said, "Folks, I do not want what Obama is doing to work. I don't want more socialism in America, I don't want more liberalism. Liberalism is what's gotten us to the problems we have now. Why would I want more of it? I do not want him to succeed." That was way back in January when polls showed that 70% of the American public wanted the new president to succeed. When many Republican officials eagerly lined up for a few moments of face time to parrot “I want the president to succeed.” They were saying the popular thing. Rush had the courage to swim against the tide and proclaim “I hope he fails.”
Another voice leading us through the wilderness is Glenn Beck. Beck is the only one of the top tier talk-radio hosts who’s fiercely independent. Neither Republican nor Democrat he’s doing important work exposing the roots of the current revolution in Washington while trying to educate the American people on the philosophical foundations of our Republic. His nightly television program breaks all records for the time-slot and if you haven’t seen it you’re missing some of the best talk on the tube. In one recent week he focused on the unconstitutional Czars and the shadowy governmental exoskeleton being constructed by the Obama administration. Glenn pointed out the radical nature of several of these behind-the-scenes leaders and he asked questions such as, how much are they being paid, who’s paying them, where do they get their authority and how much power do they have. Along with Glenn America awaits the answers.
In the on-going debate concerning the nature of the Republic, and make no mistake that’s what’s at stake, the Mainstream Media carries the water for the radical leftists who currently in power. They accuse the conservatives of just saying no taking a sideways slap at the Reagan legacy. Over and over we hear them say conservatives have no ideas. Don’t fall for this lie. The media refuse to present the right side of the debate and then say there is no side but theirs. From health care to the economy there is an alternative to the current Long March into the Brave New World.
These un-reported ideas not only make sense they reflect the days when America was the home of the brave and the land of the free. What are these ideas? When it comes to Healthcare what about tort reform, medical savings accounts, and the ability to purchase insurance plans across state lines? Turning to the economy first of all stop the spending! Lower all taxes; income, excise, estate, corporate, and capital gains. Let the people who earn the money keep the money and quit penalizing success and investment and maybe we’d get more success and investment.
The triumphant leaders of the Left say there’s no leadership on the Right. They ridicule and demean the leaders people choose to tune in, the most popular people on the airwaves. Meanwhile the Mainstream Media slant and distort the news to fit their agenda and wonder why people are tuning them out.
And then there’s Sarah Palin, the Conservative Liberals love to hate. Ask yourself why are the leaders of the left so unhinged when it comes to Sarah Palin? She’s a woman who made it on her own, an everyday person who built a successful business and then stood against and defeated the good-old-boys. Why are they’re so afraid of her? Because they know she’s the real-deal and people connect with her in ways they’ll never connect with the ideologues who want to lead us where we don’t want to go.
The Mainstream Media won’t report opposing ideas saying there are no ideas. Not liking opposition leaders they say there are no leaders. Rush, Glenn and Sarah though they have mighty megaphones would be easy to marginalize. However, the countless thousands rising up in righteous indignation, the tea-party movement and the avalanche of people marching on Washington on September 12th cry out “We want our country back!” Follow the leaders if they’re leading where you want to go.
