Harry Reid, the Democrat Senate Majority Leader, has assaulted our men and women in uniform. There is no other word for it. He has done more with one extremely stupid statement to demoralize our troops than any act of our enemy. When he stated that we have lost the war in Iraq, he devastated the morale of our fighting forces. And anyone who has been in battle will tell you that good morale is more important in protecting our troops than any weapon. Reid's words will undoubtedly result in the deaths of many soldiers, sailors and marines.

So is he a traitor or just plain stupid? In other words, is he so stupid that he didn't realize the effect the words of the top Democrat in the Senate would have on our troops? Or is he a traitor, who doesn't care how he hurts our forces who are in harm's way as long as it benefits him politically? I did an Internet search for "Harry Reid traito" and got 108,900 references. So at least 100,000 people think he is a traitor.

So what did Reid say that was so stupid and/or traitorous? Reid said, "I believe that this war is lost, and this surge is not accomplishing anything." He said this the same week that General David Petraeus announced that even though just over half of the troops being sent to Iraq for the "surge" had arrived in the country, he was already seeing positive results. "I think it's failed, I say that without any question," Reid said of the troop increase, even before half the troops had arrived!

By the way, the Senate, both Democrats and Republicans, recently confirmed General Petraeus to lead the troops in Iraq, after he told the Senate that his plan for victory included a "surge" of over 30,000 additional troops. So, how about it, Harry? You can't have it both ways. The Democrats you lead in the Senate overwhelmingly approved the surge. But now, before it has even really begun, you have proclaimed it - and our troops - to be losers.

Reid spat in the face of our American fighting men and women and told them: "You're risking your lives for nothing..." He gave aid and comfort to the enemies of our nation when he did this. Nothing al Qaeda, bin Ladin, or any other terrorist could have done could have so hurt our troops and encouraged the enemies who want to kill all Americans.

In response to Senator Reid's despicable comments, Investors Business Daily called for his resignation: "In aiding and comforting the enemy in wartime, Reid has betrayed the office he holds, shamed the Nevadans he represents and made the Democratic Party he leads synonymous with surrender. There is one way he can repair the damage he's done to the nation: step down."

If he doesn't step down, he should be removed from office. Harry Reid is sending the same message Tokyo Rose broadcast to our troops during World War II. Every day she told our troops that they were losers, that they had already lost the war. Following the war, she was tried and convicted of treason.

Interestingly, there seems to be a pattern here. Reid's statements undermining our soldiers, sailors and marines came just weeks after Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi held an unauthorized meeting with an enemy of our nation, Syria's President Bashar Assad. Syria has been declared by the US Government to be a state sponsor or terrorism. Such visits are supposed to be approved by the White House and the State Department, so Pelosi's visit was in violation of the Logan Act, a law which forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments. It was passed in 1799 and last amended in 1994. Violation of the Logan Act is a felony, punishable under federal law with imprisonment of up to three years.

Reid and Pelosi, the top Democrats in the Senate and the House, respectively, have broken US laws in ways that aid our enemies, the terrorists of the world. Why the Democrats selected the most radical leftists in each branch of Congress to represent them is beyond me.

What is very clear is that the Democrats lied to gain control of the House and the Senate in the last election. To a man (and woman) they declared that their intention was to win the war in Iraq. Check their public statements prior to the election. They promised that they would bring "an honorable end to the war," and they swore that they would not "cut and run." Then they chose the King and Queen of "cut and run" to lead them.

Regardless of what Harry Reid says, our troops are not losers. The only losers in all this are Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and the defeatist Democrats who slavishly regurgitate their traitorous statements.
