Liberals, more concerned about bears than babes

No longer will women have the “choice” to terminate a child anytime, for any reason, by any method. Pro-lifers are rejoicing, and rightly so, that the Supreme Court upheld the 2003 law banning partial-birth abortions, signaling the end to this barbaric procedure.

No longer will women have the “choice” to terminate a child anytime, for any reason, by any method. Pro-lifers are rejoicing, and rightly so, that the Supreme Court upheld the 2003 law banning partial-birth abortions, signaling the end to this barbaric procedure.

The Court’s decision is a significant victory for the American people. “The U.S. Constitution expresses respect for the dignity of human life,” said Steve Elliot, President of grassfire.org, “and by this ruling I am hopeful that it demonstrates the court's willingness to ultimately move toward reversing Roe v. Wade.

The White House released the following statement:

“I am pleased that the Supreme Court upheld a law that prohibits the abhorrent procedure of partial-birth abortion. Today’s decision affirms that the Constitution does not stand in the way of the people’s representatives enacting laws reflecting the compassion and humanity of America. The partial-birth abortion ban, which an overwhelming bipartisan majority in Congress passed and I signed into law, represents a commitment to building a culture of life in America.

“The Supreme Court’s decision is an affirmation of the progress we have made over the past six years in protecting human dignity and upholding the sanctity of life. We will continue to work for the day when every child is welcomed in life and protected in law.”

Liberals will no doubt concur with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV). When asked about the Court’s decision Senator Reid remarked, "I would only say that this is the only decision a lot of us wish that Alito weren't there, and O'Connor were there."

What an odd thing for a self-proclaimed pro-lifer to say. Whenever the partial-birth abortion ban came up in Congress, Senator Reid voted for it. I would only say that Nevada voters have had the wool pulled over their eyes.

Speaking of dishonesty, I’m compelled to furnish pitiless pro-aborts (who’ve been droning on and on all day about how there’s gonna be more and more restrictions on Roe…yawn) with the gory details of the partial-birth abortion procedure. A fit, fully formed BABY is partially delivered, then scissors are jammed into his or her skull to create a hole large enough for a suction tube, at which point the tube is inserted into the hole and the baby’s brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse. A dead BABY is then delivered, minus its gray matter. Cruel? Inhumane? Uncivilized? You bet it is!

If this gruesome procedure were done on, say, an Arctic polar bear and the public got wind of it, radical animal rights groups such as PETA would bleat louder than a flock of sheep in a shearing shed. Cable news and the three network morning shows would have grist for the mill for days, perhaps weeks!

This begs the question, “What’s up with humans who “love animals” but wouldn’t lift a finger to save precious babes in the womb?” Babies are completely helpless, they can’t speak for themselves, plus they’re members of the human race, so it’s perfectly rational to consider putting the rights of animals before the rights of human beings patently absurd. (Incidentally, Jesus Christ came to Earth to save HUMAN BEINGS, not animals! Certainly Jesus was fond of critters, but He loved PEOPLE. In truth, He willingly laid down His life so that MANKIND could be reconciled to God.)

Human life is precious. "There is no justification for taking a baby's life just because the head has not come out of the womb,” said former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore. “Any decent, sensible person can understand that, and the court should too."

The Court agreed with Judge Moore. Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote the majority opinion and was joined by Chief Justice John Roberts, Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. Today the American Center for Law and Justice made the following statement:

“One of the main thrusts of the arguments we made in the trial courts, in the courts of appeals, and ultimately, to the Supreme Court, was that the government has a compelling interest in protecting the life of the unborn. Justice Kennedy, in his opinion, specifically held that ‘the government has a legitimate, substantial interest in preserving and promoting fetal life.’ He went on to say that that interest would be ‘repudiated were the Court now to affirm the judgments’ of the Court of Appeals and hold unconstitutional the ban on partial-birth abortion.

“The Court recognized that ‘Congress determined that such abortions [partial-birth abortions] are similar to the killing of a newborn infant.’ Justice Kennedy also wrote: ‘The Act’s stated purposes are protecting innocent human life from a brutal and inhumane procedure and protecting the medical community’s ethics and reputation.’ The Court went on to state that the government, undoubtedly, ’has an interest in protecting the integrity and ethics of the medical profession.’ Moreover, the Court recognized that the government may use its ‘voice and its regulatory authority to show its profound respect for the life within the woman.’”

Over a decade ago the High Court recognized that “Congress determined that such abortions are similar to the killing of a newborn infant.” Members of Congress may have determined that partial-birth abortion is killing a newborn infant, but Bill Clinton did not share their view. In the mid 1990’s then President Clinton repeatedly vetoed partial-birth abortion legislation. (Al Gore set his sights on protecting Arctic polar bears.)

This victory was won because men and women of faith are ready, willing and able to face the giants! At the end of the Apostle Paul’s life, while he awaited the executioner’s sword in prison, he wrote these words to his beloved friend Timothy, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Tim. 4:7). Words to live by.

People of faith, this is no time to bask in our victory! We must have our armor at the ready, to go toe-to-toe with the enemies of God. Secular progressives are fully aware that the battle for the culture will be lost or won in the courts, and they’re determined to win at any cost! This is why the appointment and confirmation of conservative, God-fearing judges is imperative.

A word of warning for those who are tired of fighting the culture war: Over the past three plus decades, well over 40 million unborn babies have been murdered as a result of abortion. So don’t quit now – finish the race!

It’s been a tragic week – and a significant week. As Jay Sekulow so aptly put it, “In the wake of the brutal and senseless tragedy that has marred this week for all Americans, it seems fitting that today we celebrate a stand for life.”
