"My son did not die in vain."  - Nadia Cadavero

Army Spc. Jonathan D. Cadavero called his sister from Baghdad a week before he was killed while proudly serving his country in Iraq.

"I have no regrets. I would do it all over again, and I love being an American soldier." Kristia Cavere recalls her brother's words clearly.

On February. 27, 2007 Jonathan, was killed in a roadside bombing while attending to his job as a medic. He was only twenty-four years old. He was a true and faithful servant to his country.

Jonathan was a born-again Christian who shared his faith by living his life before others. He loved people, and within him was a caregiving spirit.

The job of a medic requires a special breed of person. The Lord God Almighty gave Jonathan a huge, loving heart to share with suffering humanity.

He was a wonderful husband, son, brother, and friend to countless others. He adored his beautiful wife, Michelle, who he married this past Thanksgiving. They planned to have a big church wedding upon returning from Iraq. At age nineteen, Michelle Cadavero is a military policewoman with the 10th Mountain Division in Baghdad. She is currently home on leave with her family in the States.

Jonathan's father explained that his son "had his life all mapped out with his wife. He planned to attend graduate school when he returned home."

As a member of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, from Fort Drum, N.Y., Jonathan was assigned to a special unit devoted to finding explosive devices in southwest Baghdad.

Days before Jonathan's death the Army Times published facts concerning improvised explosive devises. Over a six-month period, Jonathan's platoon found and disposed of 172 IED's, 62 of which had the potential to explode. Ironically, prior to his death, Spc. Cadavero was quoted in the Army Times article: "By finding these IED's, we take away the enemy's primary means of killing soldiers." Others who died on that day were: Sgt. Richard A. Soukenka, 30, of Oceanside, Calif. Cpl. Lorne E. Henry, Jr., 21, of Niagara Falls, N.Y.

Army Spc. Cadavero was well-educated. He graduated from the Takoma Park, Md.'s Columbia Union College. He made the dean's list every year. He also starred on the basketball team.

So much for Senator John F. Kerry's so-called tasteless joke:

"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

In December 2004, Jonathan graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in psychology. He also held memberships in two academic honor societies.

It is disparaging to our troops and their families when they hear snide inappropriate remarks by the anti-war defeatist Democrats. Their words have a negative affect on the morale of the troops and their families.

The Blue and Gold Star Mothers are livid with the biased "politically driven" media, and those who are making spectacles of themselves by marching at anti-war demonstrations. They have stooped even lower by burning troops in effigy. All of these treasonous, vile and disgraceful images were shown on Al-Jazeera television.

With the exception of Sen. Joe Lieberman, the Democrats running for president in 2008 want to leave Iraq without finishing the mission at hand. Lieberman, however, is as liberal as any of the other Stalinist Democrats. He has his own political agenda.

It is no wonder that our troops are troubled when they hear the constant politicking over the War on Terror.

Democrats will bear the consequences of the deaths of the Iraqi people if they continue to interfere with the president's polices. They will have to explain themselves to the American public when more blood is flowing profusely in the streets of Iraq. The Democrats have become irresponsible obstructionists. The House passed a ridiculous spending bill calling for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq by the fall 2008.

They not only do not support our efforts in Iraq, they are sabotaging them. They are trying to bully the president with their threats of withholding money that is needed for our armed services men and women in Iraq. They are most contemptible.

Our troops want to finish the job and win the peace in a country that has been torn asunder by Al-Qaeda and their terrorists' radical Islamic sympathizers.

Come Election Day, the silent majority will speak loudly in the voting booths all across this nation. They have seen and tolerated more than enough. We know which party can't be trusted to protect our nation. As a family mourns the death of their hero son, we have become a nation willfully divided by traitors.

However, there is a loving God that holds back the four winds of strife. (Revelation 7:1-3) The Almighty uses people to work out His will.

In they eyes of God and patriots, Nadia and David Cadavero's son did not die in vain. By God's abounding grace, Iraq and its people will be shown mercy.

May the Lord bless President G. W. Bush and our heroes in uniform. American, coalition, and the Iraqi troops are the "peace makers."

Army Spc. Jonathan D. Cadavero received the Purple Heart and eight other awards and decorations for his exemplary service.

Jonathan's memorial service was held at the First Presbyterian Church in Goshen, New York. A burial followed at the Orange County Veterans Cemetery. Army Spc. Jonathan D. Cadavero entered a Sabbath rest. (1 Thessalonians 4:16)
