Liberating Minds

The key to winning the war on global terrorism is not in liberating people but in liberating minds. What we are fighting are not armed terrorists so much as terrorized and tricked minds. We are fighting lies. The only way to fight these lies is with truth.

Think about how we won the last two world wars? Anyone in the Evil Empire will tell you that Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty were essential to getting the truth out to captive peoples. Surely, during the Second World War, the BBC was vital to keeping hope of liberation alive in Europe and weakening morale within Nazidom.

Combat is important, and it appears that the surge is working, but an entire generation of Moslems needs to be educated and exposed to the ideals of the Judeo-Christian faith, the contradictions of what their “leaders” are telling them, and the basic facts of history which have been papered over or ignored completely.

As the premier creator of entertainment and news, America is ideally suited to spend huge amounts of money exporting our values by every possible medium. This will mean directly confronting what passes today as much of Islam. The early militant conquests of Islam and the unequal status of non-Moslems for fourteen hundred years must be directly challenged as morally wrong. The efforts of the Crusades to provide lands where Christians, Jews and Moslems could all live in peace (as they did in the Crusader states, once established) must be told.

The power hunger and duplicity of men like the Grand Mufti, who was praised by the Soviets, then pals with the Fascists, then friends with the British, then allies of the Nazis, and finally a hero again to the Soviets – all within a few decades – must be laid on the table for the Moslem mind to work through.

The fact that Iraqis and Iranians have poured into America as refugees and willingly set up communities in America, as well as refugees from all over the world, must be loudly proclaimed: If America is the “Great Satan,” then this must be Hell, and yet people flock to get into our nation.

The lifelong rule of “presidents” in these nations which mock Americans and Israelis must be presented as clear evidence that Americans and Israelis choose our governors, unlike the people of Syria, Egypt, Iran, Cuba, North Korea or many other of our greatest enemies.

The savagery of anti-Semitism, the reappearance of forgeries like the Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion or very real monstrosities like Mein Kampf must be exposed as the obscenities that they are. We cannot live peacefully in a world in which millions of people seriously believe such tripe (it might help our case to point out that Hitler embraced “The Big Lie,” which may help muddled minds think again.)

We must also tell the world that there is something very odd about militant atheists like Castro and Kim Jong Il, as well as militant atheists in America and in Britain, making common cause with radical Moslems, unless these Moslems are not true Moslems at all, but atheists themselves.

How should we make our case? Through billions of federal dollars, just like in the Second World War, and with the creativity of American industry, the proliferation of internet programs, the ability to transmit our message anywhere, we must do this in ways that engage the mind, bring entertainment, have music and interest – and make a compelling case for our side.

The government got Frank Capra to make the wonderful series “Why We Fight,” which was primarily for domestic consumption. It should do the same for foreign consumption. The resources of the federal government should consciously be used to change the values of the billion or so people, primarily Moslem, who irrationally hate us and hate Israel.

What will the Left in America say about this? Oh, they will hate it! Except for denigrating American values and the Judeo-Christian ethic, there is no need to spend federal funds on any programming or entertainment. But we have a retort: Would be rather change the hearts and minds of billions by persuasion or fight, destroy and die in endless battles that last for generations?

The Left is always squawking about the need for “education.” There is a huge need for “education” today, but not in America. We need to educate billions that Jews are not pigs and monkeys, that America provides peoples in poor countries with huge amounts of foreign aid, that Israel chooses not to use all its military force, that Christians come to nations like Pakistan to heal and to feed. We live in a hateful, uneducated world. We need to educate it. If we do, then we have chance to do what Reagan did: Win this world war without firing another shot.
