The Duranty-Blair Award: Associated Press “Reporter” Duncan Mansfield Wins Posthumous Booby Prize for Journalistic Infamy for Transforming Story of Racist, Black-on-White Atrocity into One of White “Racism”

On the night of January 6-7, 2007, a gang of as many as seven blacks (two of whom have never been caught) carjacked, kidnapped, gang-raped, tortured and murdered a young white couple, Channon Christian, 21, and Christopher Newsom, 23. The crime was obviously racially motivated.

Although at least two of the perpetrators, half-brothers Lemaricus Davidson and Letalvis Cobbins, were career criminals, there is no record of them committing such gruesome crimes against any blacks. The 6’5” Davidson was upset, because his petite white girlfriend, Daphne Sutton, who stood barely over five-feet tall, had walked out on him, due to the constant beatings he gave her.

So, it’s a cut-and-dried story of black racist evil.

But this is Jim Snow America, and so nothing of the sort is cut and dried.

The prosecutor’s office acted like the public defender, and insisted that because the monsters “socialized with” (read: slept with and committed crimes with) whites, they were incapable of being racist towards them.

Like everything racial, this standard just runs one way.

In 2010, I was jumped by a racist black female in a Waldbaum’s supermarket, who had gone there solely for that reason.

She was 20, and had gone there with her 18-20-month-old toddler girl, an older girlfriend and the latter’s app. eight-year-old son, and arranged the kids and empty shopping carts, so as to block the aisle, and waited around for a white to approach.

The perp ran after me, as I was walking away with my shopping cart and ten-year-old, and sucker-punched me with something between a wallet and a purse, right in front of the cash registers.

A man I couldn’t see dragged me down by my sweatshirt hood from behind, and the racist perp tried to stomp me, while I kicked at her. (Her racist black supporters shouted, “You’re not supposed to kick a girl!”)

Not realizing that “respectable” black women in the vicinity would commit the crime of giving false police reports on behalf of my attacker, I demanded that the manager call the police.

As my then 10-year-old chief of research pointed out, at least two CCTV cameras covered the scene of the crime. But when the cops came, the supervising officer, a large black woman of 38-40 years of age, claimed that none of the CCTV cameras worked.

I didn’t believe the sergeant, and made a complaint to Internal Affairs.

When the two female Internal Affairs officers came to my place, a cute, brunette, Italian sergeant of about 35, and a silent, dumpy, little blonde of 26-27, with a German name, the sergeant said on the black sergeant’s behalf, “Her husband’s white.”

I responded, “That didn’t help Justin Volpe.”

She immediately understood the reference, and we bid each other adieu.

Justin Volpe had been a cop who was sucker punched by a Haitian, in front of many laughing, Haitian witnesses.

Volpe’s Haitian attacker was out on the town with his cousin. Volpe decided to teach the criminal a lesson, but mistakenly grabbed the cousin. (I have no problem with Volpe accidentally beating the wrong cousin in his squad car. That’s called street justice, besides which, Abner Louima was his cousin’s accomplice.) He gave the cousin a good beating in his squad car, but then took things too far.

Volpe took the cousin to his stationhouse basement, and sodomized his rear end with the broken end of a broom handle.

At the time, Volpe was engaged to marry a black woman, but nobody argued that his engagement proved that he wasn’t a racist. Although Volpe’s victim, Abner Louima, survived, and collected $9 million from the city’s predominantly white taxpayers, Volpe was convicted on federal civil rights charges and sentenced to 30 years in prison, with no chance for parole, which was about five times what the average murderer gets.

Apropos of everything, Abner Louima’s cousin, the racist criminal who set everything in motion, was never prosecuted.

To make a short story long, when blacks commit racist atrocities, anything can be used as a “mitigating factor,” no matter how specious, while for a white accused of racism, nothing counts as a “mitigating factor,” and “anti-racists” routinely turn victims of black racism into perpetrators of white racism.

Which brings me to AP “reporter” Duncan Mansfield.

In 2007, shortly after the Knoxville Horror, Mansfield attended a court date for an alleged member of the murderous gang, Eric Boyd.

Eric Boyd was by profession a stick-up man, but federal prosecutors (involved because of the carjacking) were convinced that he was one of the murderers, in part because other members of the group of killers had insisted he was.

Although Boyd had been caught hiding one of the killers, after the fact, he denied that he’d had anything to do with the carjacking, gang-rapes, torture and murders. However, gang member Vanessa Coleman had told detectives that fellow member George Thomas had told her that Thomas, Boyd, and Davidson had taken turns shooting Christopher Newsom dead.

In January 2007, Boyd had a court date. Channon Christian’s father, Gary, attended.

The grieving Gary Christian was wearing a stars-and-bars colored t-shirt, and at one point, formed one hand into the shape of a gun, pointed it at Boyd, and played as if he had fired it.

Using the alchemy of racism, on May 18, 2007 Duncan Mansfield reverse reported and reportorialized a story of a court hearing regarding a racist atrocity into a story about the racism of Gary Christian.

Christian's father, Gary Christian, wore a Confederate flag T-shirt — a symbol of the Old South where slavery was rifre [sic] — to the first hearing for one of the defendants and then pointed at the man as if firing a gun. But family lawyer Joe Costner said Channon Christian's parents have repeatedly said they do not believe their daughter's killing was race-related. [“Duncan Mansfield’s Original AP Blackwash of the Knoxville Horror.”
Mansfield quoted bald-faced liar Knoxville Police Chief Sterling Owen IV (since retired on his FBI and KPD pensions, and social security benefits), and various leftwing hack “media experts,” all denying the obvious.

Well, Mansfield died two years ago of pancreatic cancer, but fortunately for me, death is no disqualification from winning a Duranty-Blair Award. [Hagiographic Duncan Mansfield obit.]

The Duranty-Blair Award recognizes those journalists whose work embodies the spirit of Walter Duranty and Jayson Blair, two of the most notorious journalists in the history of the Fourth Estate. It is no accident that both men worked for the New York Times.

Walter Duranty wrote a series of early 1930s dispatches from the Soviet Union, where he was Times Moscow bureau chief, in which he lied about the Ukrainian Holocaust, in which Stalin deliberately starved millions of Kulaks (farmers) to death, through a man-made famine. Instead of reporting the truth, Duranty reported that the peasants were happy and well-fed, and was rewarded for his lies with a Pulitzer Prize.

Jayson Blair (here, here, and here) was an early 2000s black affirmative action hire, who alternately plagiarized reporters at other newspapers, and fabricated articles out of whole cloth, all for stories set hundreds and even thousands of miles away, while he sat in New York City cafés.

Previous Duranty-Blair winners are:

CBS News producer Mary Mapes in 2004;

Seven reporters and editors at the New Orleans Times-Picayune in 2006;

ABC News reporter Brian Ross in 2012;

Peter Berger (not the brilliant sociologist), of The American Interest, in 2013;

Associated Press operative Tom Hays, in 2014;

New York Times operative Farhad Manjoo in September, 2016;

CNN’s Symone Sanders (2), Don Lemon, and Kate Bolduan (2), in November 2016;

New York Times Propaganda Officer Francis X. Clines in March 2017; and

CNN Activist Jim Sciutto, in May 2017.
