It's Christmastime While American Muslims Conveniently Become Insulted By LAPD's Mapping Program
Thanksgiving Day is over and happy shoppers are out in droves. Millions are in our malls looking for holiday bargains while enjoying the beautiful Christmas decorations. However, they are seemingly oblivious to the potential danger they are putting themselves in while merely shopping.
Once again the old "biased media deployed" seems to be too busy politicizing the war on terror while covering the tush of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. She wants to give drivers licenses to illegal aliens. No, that was last week. She has changed her position. Now she doesn't. This week she is busy mucking up Barack Obama's reputation. How can the media be interested in informing us about Islamic terrorism when they deny its existence?
In my last opinion piece I wrote about the chilling prospects of a possible attack by terrorists on our shopping malls during the Christmas Season. Warnings from the Federal Bureau of Investigation prompted the Los Angeles Police Department to quickly move forward with plans that were already underway, but short lived. It is apparent that we might have to suffer more lost lives before Homeland Security and the FBI implement profiling. There is nothing wrong or sinister with its use. We need to safeguard our country.
It is up to the American population to regain the ground that is continually lost when it comes to Islamic terrorists that are living amongst us. Their looming threats are continually hanging over us. There's a saying: "As California goes, so goes the nation." We must turn up the heat by calling our legislators and demand that counterterrorism plans be employed. Contact Elected Officials: USA.gov.
Excerpts from Associated Press story:
LAPD's Muslim mapping plan killed
The LAPD on Wednesday abruptly scrapped a program to map the city's Muslim population, a major retreat for a department that said the system was needed to identify potential hotbeds of extremism.
The reversal comes after a week of protests from Muslim groups and civil libertarians, who equated the mapping with religious profiling. Others questioned whether it was possible for the LAPD to accurately map the city's far-flung Muslim community.
Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Michael P. Downing said Wednesday that in the wake of the protests, officials would drop the mapping aspect of the plan but continue their efforts to reach out to the Muslim community. Downing and other police officials plan to outline the new strategy to Muslim American activists at a meeting today.
The decision met with praise from some activists, who said they would welcome greater involvement by the LAPD in their communities as long as mapping was off the table.
"Muslim Americans were very disturbed and concerned about the ramifications of the plan and having their privacy invaded," said Salam Al-Marayati, executive director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council. "Downing's statement that he's pulling the plan says the LAPD is very open to positive community engagement, input and participation. It's the first step to very healthy dialogue between Muslim Americans and the city of Los Angeles."
The LAPD has not provided details about how it planned to build the Muslim database. But in a document reviewed by The Times last week, the department's counter-terrorism bureau proposed using U.S. census data and other demographic information to pinpoint Muslim communities and then reach out to them through social service agencies.
Originally, the LAPD planned to partner with USC's National Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events in building the mapping program. But after details of the effort were made public last week, USC officials said they were carefully studying whether to join the endeavor and stressed that no deal had been made.
During Oct. 30 testimony before Congress, Downing described the plan as an attempt to mitigate radicalization."
Where is the cooperation that is sadly needed by our moderate Muslims communities? In Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties it is estimated that 500,000 Muslims reside. Who are they? The ACLU and the Council on American-Islamic Relations would have you know doodley-squat.
Why do we have to confront radical Islam on all fronts while American Muslims purposefully and conveniently become insulted so they do not have to work with the LAPD? Why are they continually turning to the ACLU and suspicious organizations such as CAIR instead of helping law enforcement organizations?
Judaists on the Internet regularly post comments from nameless individuals who suggest and boast that they are willing and able to attack soft targets including shopping malls. We must remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to law enforcement authorities
In the post-9/11 era, we should not be lackadaisical. We must take terrorists seriously. Al-Qaida has clearly stated its intent. Attacking U.S. interests is its goal, no matter how long it takes. Al-Qaida and their affiliates are patient They will strike again.
Terrorism is a real threat which will become much more prevalent as the years go by if not dealt with now. Unfortunately, liberals tell us that there are no threats, only "bumper sticker slogans." per Senator John Edwards.
"It is urgent that we confront Islamism on all fronts. All free people must demand that their governments, at all levels, abandon the practice of political correctness and act to safeguard liberty against the truly deadly assault of Islamism on the rest of the World." Amil Imani
It's Christmas time in the cities. Many Americans wonder why American Muslims conveniently became insulted by the LAPD's proposed Mapping Program that was intended to benefit every ones safety, including all Muslims.
