An Omnipresent Loving God And One King Herod

God once again alerts mankind of His existence. In Jerusalem an Israeli archaeologist believes that he discovered remnants of the tomb of King Herod among artifacts in the Judean Desert. The archaeologist's findings are located in the area where the biblical monarch built a palace.

King Herod was an evil man. When he heard the rumors that the new king of the Jews was soon to be born, he gathered the known religious leaders together. He demanded to be informed where Christ was to be born. (Matthew 2:2-5)

Herod was fearful for his earthly throne. He wanted to find the child and kill him. "And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and His mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy Him."(Matthew 2:13)

In his violent wrath he sent soldiers to kill every child in Bethlehem, from two years of age and under. Matthew 2:16. He perpetrated a depraved act of cruelty. Herod's own wicked life was soon to end bizarrely.

Excerpts from Associated Press:

Israeli Archaeologist May Have Found Tomb of King Herod

JERUSALEM — An Israeli archaeologist on Tuesday said he has found the tomb of King Herod the Great, the legendary builder of ancient Jerusalem and the Holy Land.

Hebrew University archaeologist Ehud Netzer said the tomb was found at Herodium, a flattened hilltop in the Judean Desert where Herod the Great built a palace compound. Netzer has been working at the site since the 1970s.

Netzer said the tomb was discovered when a team of researchers found pieces of a limestone sarcophagus believed to belong to the ancient king.

Although there were no bones in the container, he said the sarcophagus' location and ornate appearance indicated it is Herod's.

'It's a sarcophagus we don't just see anywhere,' Netzer said at a news conference.'It is something very special.' "

Netzer led the team, though he said he was not on the site when the sarcophagus was found. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,270575,00.html

Is it important for us to be aware of God's truth. Do you believe that there is an omnipresent God who created our universe? Are you aware that there is a Lord Almighty who is deeply concerned with everything in your life? Do we have sufficient information available to conclude that God has revealed everything about Himself to mankind?

Is there sufficient physical as well as historical information available so that man has no excuse not to know that He exists? (Rom. 1:18-23)

God has impacted the world with beauty. Nature's complexity is stunning. How could it all just come from out of nowhere? When we think of the creation alone, it could not have happened without meaning.

Man, in his state of rebellious insight, is far reaching to deny God's place in their lives. Surely their rejection of Him does not come from wisdom.

Simply put, man in his fallen state does not want to feel that he is accountable to an Omniscient Lord. Desperately, he will try to explain and argue God's existence away. Throughout the years, ridiculous theories have been espoused that try to show that God is not the creator of the universe. (Rom. 1:28-32)

There is sufficient evidence to show that there is a living, loving God. His Word, the Bible, gives everyone the opportunity to see the truth.

Faith is the key to embracing the truth. "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."(Romans 10:17) However, there are times when God, in His mercy, unearths His truth to all who are willing to see.

There is a heaven to win and a great loss for those who are so blind that they will not see. (Ephesians 5:8-14; Psalm 23; John 9:1-41)

One of the most compelling invitations and profound promises given by the Savior is found in the simple phrase "seek, and ye shall find."

The one and only true God and creator of the universe is providing even more proof that He lives. It is up to you to reexamine your thoughts. A loving God offers you a brand new life along with peace that passes all understanding. (Philippians 4:7) Good News!
