The Flaccid Right

Poll after poll show that America is not in line with the principles of liberals and the Democrats. Time and again these polls reveal that about 60%, if not more, of Americans believe in smaller government and lower taxes. So how do the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Harry Reid, Debbie Stabenow, Charles Rangel and Barack Obama come to be in charge of the whole shebang? The answer to that is because of the flaccid right.

The flaccid right, or soft right, are people that claim to believe in smaller government and lower taxes every time they are polled and to some extent do. They want to cut their taxes and create smaller government but with exceptions. Those exceptions arise when the taxes of others that pay for the government that supports them are also put on the chopping block.

You people know who you are. You are the senior citizens who stand up at events like the tea parties calling for an end to unconstitutional spending and high taxes but who would bite the off the hand off any politician the second they even tried to touch your Social Security. You are the captains of industry who bemoan your competitor getting some tax break or incentive while sending lobbyists to Washington in droves to maintain your own. You are the family farmers that struggle to figure out how to pay the taxes on your property while holding on with an iron grip to every subsidy to grow this or not grow that which you can get your hands on. You are the single mother on a limited income who talks about marching on Washington and throwing out all the crooks that voted to allow tax payer money to be used to bailout banks but who would never consider exactly why you are entitled to a plethora of tax credits for taxes you never paid and that earn you a refund from Uncle Sam every year.

You folks in the flaccid right talk a good game. But when it comes time to walk the walk, you fall flat on your faces like an impotent man without his precious Viagra. Even though you want lower taxes and smaller government, you do not want your piece of the government pie to be taken. So as long as the liberals promise to maintain the whole pie, including your precious little piece, you will fall in line and vote for them. Even if by doing so you also wind up paying for a bigger pie year after year.

But all that matters to you is that your piece is maintained. Only once those of you in the flaccid right overcome your own addiction to unconstitutional spending can progress be made with regards to bettering this nation and restoring limited government funded by limited taxes shared by all.

So what will you choose to do? How addicted are you to the pie government is feeding you with one hand while giving away your children’s future to bake more pie for others? How tasty is it that it satisfies you and convinces you that everything is not that bad even though you know better? When will you stop accepting the pie and when will you fight back? When will you shout, “No more!” and when will you decide that you must give up your own piece to help save this country?

Will you ever? Can you ever?

It brings to mind the story of Hansel and Gretel. You flaccid righties remember that story from your childhood don’t you?

In it, Hansel and Gretel believe that they have befriended an old woman who lives in a house constructed from gingerbread and containing the most delicious foods of all sorts. She tells the children that they are more than welcome to eat and eat and eat some more until they have had their fill. And the children do just that. They gorge themselves on the sweets. They become fat and plump and perfect for her own ends. The woman’s ends, in case you have forgotten, are that she intends to eat the children.

Think about that. Especially the next time the government offers you your piece of pie on which to stuff into your own mouth. Remember, they are not feeding you because they like you. They are feeding you because they want to sustain their own miserable existence and you are the food that keeps them going. They will devour you to sate their own hunger for power.
