Is the Boston Globe Racist?

Massachusetts’ native Bob Parks is running for the chairmanship of the MA GOP. However, you would never know it based upon a recent article published in the Boston Globe. Although a 26 November article published by the news service addressed other Massachusetts GOP members, it refused—or at least badly neglected—to cover Parks who is a black man.

In an email, Bob told me: “I've sent many releases out, and some interviews have been written. Are they afraid or maybe...racists?” Candidate Parks also advised: “One would think that the Republican Party, as “racist” as we all know they are, would never even allow a black to run for state party chair.

”One would [also] think the Boston Globe would be commending Republicans for coming out of the woods. However, the Boston Globe has decided to ignore my run. Why? One would think my lack of chair experience would make me a potential disaster for the State GOP, thus it would be something the Globe would support.

”Based on my opinions, do they think my being chair would bear more fruit, thus the need to ignore me? Is the reason they're ignoring me is maybe... they are racists?”

Hmmm. I wonder about it, too.

What is interesting, in regards to this apparent snub by Massachusetts’ leading newspaper, is the support offered by former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich’s group. Gingrich Communications has offered Mr. Parks its assistance—at no charge—should he become Chairman of the Massachusetts GOP. With the weight of one of this country’s most prestigious and well-known conservative leaders fully endorsing Parks’ bid for the GOP chairmanship of Massachusetts, the questions surrounding why the Boston Globe would not interview Parks becomes more pronounced. Why is it avoiding Parks, at seemingly all costs—including incurring the charges of racism? Is the publication afraid of the extremely articulate and knowledgeable Parks? Does it not want to have to include the fact that Parks is a leading “black Republican”? Sort of sounds like it, doesn’t it?

If you are as interested as am I, in determining why the Globe is slighting Bob, give them a call or email them and ask. The Globe’s number is (617) 929-3100, with email contact information at localnews@globe.com. Let me know how it works out. I’m anxious to hear from you.
