This week, the Democrat Party advised television network ABC and the American people that it is the organization—and the only one—that will now decide what is appropriate to be aired on television. I suspect that the Hollywood film industry (which is already virtually a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Democrat Party) will be next. I doubt Hollywood will be too concerned, as the DNC loved and loudly applauded Michael Moore’s fabricated Bush hit-piece Fahrenheit 9/11. But, who knows? If the film industry’s leftist industrial complex isn’t leftist enough, will it also come under severe scrutiny from the DNC? It could—and just may—happen.

All this week, Democrats and the leftist-bloggers have been fuming over the ABC (yet to be publicly aired) docudrama “The Path to 9/11”. ABC has already agreed to many of the Democrats’ demands. The problem is that this miniseries exposes, for all to see, the Clinton Administration’s abject refusal to confront Islamic terrorism. As I understand it, one of former President Clinton’s sticking-points and loud objections is the reference to his refusal to allow the apprehension of Osama bin-Laden. The CIA had advised the Clinton Administration, repeatedly, that they had custody of the terrorist-leader. Clinton refused to keep him under confinement. The Clintonistas advise that this event never occurred. But, it did. There is even a widely-played audio tape of the former Prez saying that he’d tried to turn bin-Laden over to another country. But, he advises—on the tape—that he couldn’t locate any government that would accept the Taliban and al-Qaeda leader.

Yesterday, Democrat senators went even further in their attempts to censor ABC and the airing of its 2-part series. Much like the old Stalinistic USSR “polit-bureau”, the Democrat Party has now issued a not-so-veiled threat, which involves pulling ABC’s broadcasting license. In a letter to the President and CEO of ABC’s parent company, Walt Disney, Democrat Senator’s made their intentions crystal clear. They are now demanding that ABC cancel The Path to 9/11, cut all copies up into ‘itsy-bitsy’ pieces and burn them. Democrat censorship? You betcha’!

Democrat Senators Harry Reid (D-NV), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Charles Schumer (D-NY) and Byron Dorgan (D-ND) wrote, in part: “The Communications Act of 1934 provides your network with a free broadcast license predicated on the fundamental understanding of your principle obligation to act as a trustee of the public airwaves in serving the public interest. Nowhere is this public interest obligation more apparent than in the duty of broadcasters to serve the civic needs of a democracy by promoting an open and accurate discussion of political ideas and events.

“Frankly, that ABC and Disney would consider airing a program that could be construed as right-wing political propaganda on such a grave and important event involving the security of our nation is a discredit both to the Disney brand and to the legacy of honesty built at ABC by honorable individuals from David Brinkley to Peter Jennings. Furthermore, that Disney would seek to use Scholastic to promote this misguided programming to American children as a substitute for factual information is a disgrace.”

The series is derived from both the 9/11 Commission Report and interviews. But, as the content is not favorable to a Democrat icon—that would be former President Clinton—the Democrat Party plans to censor it. Note: I’m relatively certain the DNC can count on support from both the ACLU and CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations). In fact, I’m surprised that CAIR hasn’t already jumped into the fray to complain about ABC’s ‘negative portrayal of Islamic terrorists’. Perhaps that’s coming next.

Make no mistake, folks. This is part and parcel to the Democrat agenda. Democrats embrace censorship of anything and everything that runs contrary to their talking points. They consistently vilify and make ad hominem attacks against those who have the unmitigated gall to criticize them.

But, this time Democrats have taken their attacks to a new level. They have now thrown down their gauntlet and said: “Either do it our way or we’ll put you out of business”. Is this really who you want running a country?
