It will not be long before students entering college will have no memory of 9/11/01 because they were too young to be aware of that day of shock, terror and death.

Let's remind them.

September 11, 2001 dawned a beautiful late-summer day in the northeast US that hinted at approaching autumn. The sky was deep blue, humidity was low, a gentle wind blew from the north-northwest. It was one of a handful of perfect "10" days the region experiences each year. The day should have been productive and full of life for 3000 people whose lives began in Boston, the New York metropolitan area, and Washington, DC.

Instead, the demented fanaticism of radical Islamists directed by the late Osama bin Laden (a former Boston cab driver) resulted in the hijackings of four commercial airliners, one each flown into the two World Trade Center towers in New York City, one flown into the Pentagon in Washington, DC, and one crashing into rural countryside of central Pennsylvania after its passengers realized what was happening and stormed the cockpit, knowing their action would likely bring certain death in mere moments.

It took less than two hours for each of the twin towers to collapse, claiming the lives of nearly 3000 people, including many New York City police, fire, and rescue personnel. It was a morning of horror that will never be forgotten by anyone who was watching events unfold in New York City that morning.

This nation was dealt a severe blow that would lead to costly military action that unseated the Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein and dealt a severe blow to the Arab-Islamist terrorist camps by ending the rule of Afghanistan's Taliban theocracy.

Being a resilient nation, it was not many years before the wars were winding down, financial markets were recovering, and government was getting it's fiscal books in order. By the end of FY 2007, this nation had experienced four straight years of dramatic decline in its budget deficit to a low of $161 billion.

What have we learned about Islam since 9/11/01? At the time of the terror attacks, quite frankly, most people knew very little. We've since learned that Islam is spreading like an aggressive cancer across the face of this planet, consuming healthy societies in its growing malignancy. Through immigration, legions of Islamist fundamentalists have fanned out over Western European nations and North America, demanding all Muslims answer only to Sharia law (the law of the Islamist theocracy). They aim to achieve their theocratic takeover at first through demands for local autonomy and Sharia law and finally by taking political control using the election process as their rapid reproduction leads to a population explosion of radical Islamists.

Sharia is the law that views a woman as a man's possession. Women are mutilated so that they cannot enjoy physical relations with men as a precaution against their being promiscuous (let the punishment precede the crime!). Stoning to death for dishonoring her family is the standard punishment for a woman who has been raped. That's right. The perpetrator is rarely punished, but the victim is. In order to punish rape, there must be three other male witnesses who will testify to the rape. The gay and lesbian lifestyles are punishable by death. In an Islamic theocracy under Sharia, atheists, as all other non-Muslims, are viewed with disdain as second-class citizens, they pay extra taxes and they cannot own property and do not have the rights of Muslims.

Yet here we are, a mere eleven years from the fanatical Islamist attack on America, and our President, Barack Hussein Obama, remains openly congenial to Islam. If polls are credible, Obama is favored to win re-election despite the near depression economic conditions and a spending policy that can only be described as recklessly suicidal.

A mere eight years after 9/11/01, Barack Hussein Obama visited Egypt to deliver a message of support for Muslims. (On that occasion, Obama was not reticent to proudly use his middle name, something the highly partisan US news media adamantly refuse to do.) In a 55-minute speech at a "seat of Islamic learning" Obama said to the gathered Muslims, "America and Islam are not exclusive and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles of justice and progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings."^[1]

Really?

Tell that to women, Jews, Christians, gays and lesbians who live in Islamic theocracies.

I doubt Obama could convince them of Islam's "tolerance" and respect for "the dignity of all human beings."

Can you imagine Franklin D. Roosevelt, shortly after Japan's sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, saying in a public address to the Japanese, "America and Japan are not exclusive and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles of justice and progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings."?

Can you imagine Eisenhower, shortly after the Soviet Union's brutal repression of the Hungarian Revolution in 1956, sayng in a public address to the Soviets, "America and the Soviet Union are not exclusive and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles of justice and progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings."?

Can you imagine Lyndon Johnson, shortly after the Soviet Union's brutal repression of the Czechoslovakian Revolution in 1968, sayng in a public address to the Soviets, "America and the Soviet Union are not exclusive and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles of justice and progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings."?

We need to apply this same perspective to Obama's overtures to Muslim nations, particularly in light of his peculiar selectivity when it comes to those he believes should be overthrown (Libya and Egypt) and those he is willing to tolerate (Syria and Iran). Those who are virulently anti-American get a pass. Those who have a history of greater cooperation with America get ousted.

The naive notion that Egypt and Libya would become free nations respecting "the dignity of all human beings" has been soundly refuted by the ascendency of the anti-American Muslim Brotherhood to positions of great power in those nations. Yet the Obama administration continues to view the ascendency to power of the Muslim Brotherhood with no evident alarm.

Our nation is in the midst of the most crucial election in its history. Too few people appreciate the dangers inherent with our current situation. The choice of direction and leadership for our country is crucial both in terms of our economy, our currency, our fiscal stability, and the stability of our constitutional republic. This election should not be treated as just another election. It is far too critical to be treated lightly.

A question that should be asked of President Obama during the coming debates is, "You have characterized Islam as a religion that shares with America 'common principles of justice and progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.' How do you justify that view, given that Sharia law, the law of the Islamic faith treats women as inferior property of men, is highly intolerant of non-Muslims, desires the extermination of the Jewish homeland, and is intolerant of the gay and lesbian lifestyle?"

How could Obama answer that straightforward question?

Can you imagine any of the highly pro-Obama news media personalities having the courage to ask that much-needed question?

The movie, "2016, Obama's America" is based on Dinesh D'Souza's book, "The Roots of Obama's Rage". The movie provides all the background needed to know who Barack Hussein Obama really is and what motivates his sometimes bizarre actions. It reveals "the rest of the story" that the highly-partisan American press have shown no interest in revealing.

I can think of no greater memorial tribute we could give to the victims of 9/11/01 than getting out to vote for Mitt Romney on November 6 so we can get our nation restarted on a path to economic and political strength with a courage and dignity that will restore the pride we all felt during the Reagan years.
