More Perspective on the Gulf Oil Disaster
I have to laugh at the usual drivel from "the usual suspects" found in letters to the editor and commentaries from the Left.
I thought all good liberals were all for recycling (now libs like to call themselves "progressives" ... always adopting a term that is opposite to what they really are).
Isn't recycling considered "good" by the Left anymore?
Don't we recycle paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, aluminum, etc.? Don't responsible Lefties also want to recycle organic garbage into composts?
(anticipating a resounding chorus of "yes" from "the usual suspects")
Well, then, why is the far-Left (a.k.a., "liberal", "progressive", "Marxist", "socialists", etc., etc.) so adamantly against using recycled products?
After all, aren't coal, oil, and gas simply recycled plants and trees? Natural recycling of plant material and organic matter create coal, oil, and natural gas. I would think nothing would appeal more to a good liberal than using naturally recycled resources!
So why do liberals think oil is BAD, coal is BAD, and even natural gas is BAD?
Why is that?
Well, ah, you know ... ah, it's ... Haliburton! Yes, that's it! EVIL Haliburton. And Bush. And Cheney (by now, liberals should be foaming at the mouth with rage).
Liberals are so full of it and all because they are monumentally ignorant about what they try to preach to normal people. Yes, liberalism is an insane, self-destructive political philosophy that tries to contaminate all of human society with it's sick, unsustainable "free-lunch" philosophy of false compassion.
Solar and wind power can never possibly provide more than a fraction of the energy and fuel required to support a modern nation's high standard of living. Yet liberals are rabid about promoting such alternatives as though they could substantially replace low-cost carbon-based energy.
Perfectly natural resources like oil, coal, and natural gas are available in abundance and could "fuel" an economic recovery that would benefit everybody, regardless of their financial status.
We are temporarily saddled with a radicalized, unconstitutional government that is focused on destroying wealth, reducing opportunity, and shutting off all access to affordable energy in favor of completely unrealistic and uneconomical solar and wind alternatives that can never meet the requirements of a healthy economy.
And "the usual suspects" will be the Fifth Column supporters of this insane policy of shutting down carbon-based fuels because of a single bad accident. And they'll be the first ones to scream "EVIL OIL COMPANIES" when the price of gasoline and electricity skyrocket because of their own insane policies based on their monumental ignorance! Now you have a glimpse of the real agenda of the Marxists in Washington. They aim to create a scenario where they can nationalize the oil companies to control prices and stop "evil profits".
Such a policy is akin to shutting down our highway system after a weekend of holiday traffic carnage that claims more lives than the crash of a jumbo jet. How many lives were lost from the Gulf oil gusher? About a dozen on the platform when it went up in flames? How many others?
It is insane not to put things into proper perspective. All the hand-wringing and acrimony over this disastrous loss of oil is the usual emotional response by liberals to a problem that will simply not respond to emotion.
This country needs to not only continue drilling for oil and gas, it needs to dramatically increase such activities and open up coal fields currently off limits in public lands. True leadership would get this country turned around in short order. Instead, our nation is being steered into oblivion by a Marxist regime that has no ability to distinguish fantasy from reality. But they're sure good at blaming others for every problem.

Biography - Bob Webster
Bob Webster, a 12th-generation descendent of both the Darte family (Connecticut, 1630s) and the Webster family (Massachusetts, 1630s) is a descendant of Daniel Webster's father, Revolutionary War patriot Ebenezer Webster, who served with General Washington. Bob has always had a strong interest in early American history, our Constitution, U.S. politics, and law. Politically he is a constitutional republican with objectivist and libertarian roots. He has faith in the ultimate triumph of truth and reason over deception and emotion. He is a strong believer in our Constitution as written and views the abandonment of constitutional restraint by the regressive Progressive movement as a great danger to our Republic. His favorite novel is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand and believes it should be required reading for all high school students so they can appreciate the cost of tolerating the growth of unconstitutional crushingly powerful central government. He strongly believes, as our Constitution enshrines, that the interests of the individual should be held superior to the interests of the state.
A lifelong interest in meteorology and climatology spurred his strong interest in science. Bob earned his degree in Mathematics at Virginia Tech, graduating in 1964.
