Rachel Marsden and CPAC: There's a New Sheriff in Town

Political columnist and media strategist Rachel Marsden is scheduled to be emceeing at February's CPAC (Conservative Political Action Committee) conference being held in Washington, DC beginning on Thursday, February 7, 2008.

"I will be emceeing at CPAC on Friday, Feb 8th, from 11:30-1pm.  But will be hanging out there all weekend," said the beautiful conservative pundit.

The right-wing heartthrob of male conservatives, and role-model for female right-wingers, is expected to unveil her new Internet web site -- Grand Central Station Magazine -- and it's companion political/PR/media talent scouting operation, serving the USA, her home country of Canada, the United Kingdom and France, at the conference which is featuring top conservative and GOP personalities and office holders.

A New York-based political columnist, political and media strategist, radio/TV personality she is considered an expert in both US and international politics. Her radio/TV appearance credits number in the hundreds including appearances as commentator on several Fox News Channel shows (The O'Reilly Factor, The Big Story), CNN (The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer), and many others.

She's well-known among conservatives and liberals alike as a sharp commentator with a biting sense of humor. For example, on Democrat front-runners Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, she said, "Hillary's a socialist who started positioning herself as a centrist three years ago -- I wrote about it in a column at the time, called 'Suddenly a Centrist'.  So I saw this coming.  As for Obama, I'd vote for him -- if he was running for Junior Prom King.  Maybe."

Born in suburban Vancouver, British Columbia, Rachel said she grew up listening to Jack Webster, who pioneered combative political talk-radio long before it ever spread to the USA.

Rachel says that "after ripping like a tornado through one of Canada's most liberal universities [sciences, then criminology]" she moved on to a broadcast journalism degree, then formal political journalism training in Washington, DC.

While working in Canada, she spent her media career debating the liberal-left hordes in both of her native languages (French and English), and perplexingly, has no hint of an accent in either language.

Rachel started out with the Fox News Channel in 2004 as the Canadian Correspondent for "The O'Reilly Factor" -- the top-rated cable news show in the world -- after she was spotted as a regular panelist on Dennis Miller's CNBC show in Los Angeles.  She later became a regular panelist on FNC's late-night show and has also since appeared on CNN and other news networks.

Most recently a political columnist for the Toronto Sun and other Sun Media newspapers, she has contributed to United Press International/Washington Times, and the National Post (one of Canada's two national newspapers).  Her writing has appeared in other print and online publications around the world, including the New York Post and Newsmax magazine.

In addition to working in network news production in New York City and nationally syndicated radio in Washington, DC, Rachel has served as a DC-based Director of a political think-tank, worked as a political campaign strategist and run political campaigns in both Canada and the USA, and as CEO of a public relations, lobbying, and strategic communications business.

Prior to beginning a 2-year stint in Toronto in 2005, Rachel hosted a weekly open line, political talk-radio radio program out of Vancouver, British Columbia, which was broadcast worldwide.  She used to tell listeners that she did all her own technical controls for the show, so any calls would go straight onto the air without screening.

Rachel would humorously thank all the her listeners and callers who took advantage of this for helping her hone her comedic improvisational skills.

A former national level competitive swimmer who still holds records in her home province, Rachel lives for challenges and thrives on competition.  She likens political debate to a boxing match -- and she's never happier than when she's in the ring.

Marsden's Grand Central Politics is a project she's undertaken with the help of TCV Media, a firm headed by former congressional candidate Nathan Tabor. She will feature well-known political pundits as well as up-and-coming columnists.

"GrandCentralPolitical.com is being programmed by the incredibly talented folks at Nathan Tabor's TCV Media.  Nathan's a well-known conservative in his own right -- so you know, as an added bonus, that the business is going to be well-run and your investment isn't going to be blown on Ding Dongs and pot rather than the website," said Marsden.
