Hillary for President? A Big Blue State Says No

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has been visiting the so-called Red States to try to convince conservatives and moderates that she's not the liberal-left ideologue they think she is. But a new poll shows Clinton can't even convince some Blue States that she's presidential material.

One of the bluest of the Blue States in the nation gave Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton(D-NY) some disheartening news today: If the presidential election were held today, Sen. Clinton gets whipped in New Jersey by Republicans Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and "America's Mayor" Rudy Guiliani, according to a new poll.

Giuliani beats Clinton in New Jersey 53 to 39 percent and McCain beats her by 54 to 39 percent in the newly released Quinnipiac University poll. New Jersey is always considered a state that can be counted on to give its electoral votes to the Democrat presidential candidate.

According to the New York Post, the poll could continue to fuel Democrat Party doubts about Clinton because Democrats have been winning there. In his losing 2004 bid, John Kerry comfortably beat President Bush in New Jersey 53 to 46 percent.

Clinton gets clobbered by Republican candidates even with Bush being so unpopular in New Jersey, with 65 percent giving him failing marks.

The two Republicans McCain and Giuliani beat Clinton among women as well as men, but she's weakest with men, losing to McCain by nearly 2-1 among men. The March 8-14 poll surveyed 1,147 registered voters and has a 2.9-point error margin.

"I'm not surprised one bit. [Sen.] Clinton is viewed as someone who'll say anything to get elected and some Blue States may turn Red if she's the Democrat Party nominee," says Mike Baker a local political analyst.

"She's been trying to move to the [political] center, but calling a crackdown on illegal immigration 'a police state' or using loaded language like 'plantation' doesn't encourgage moderates to vote for her."

Recently, Clinton was embarassed after she gave speeches blasting the Bush Administration over the Dubai ports deal, and it was discovered her husband, former President Bill Clinton, was working for Dubai by assisting them in their strategy to sell the US port takeover to the American people.

Reporter Sher Zieve wrote in these pages that Sen. Clinton is maintaining that she knew nothing about former President Clinton’s ties with the United Arab Emirates. Sen. Clinton reportedly has told her husband that she will have the future final say over what he says and does. She is said to have been embarrassed over the recent revelations of her husband’s business arrangement with the recent Dubai Ports World deal.

It also resurrected the story of how Bill Clinton turned over control of some US ports to the Red Chinese and the fact that during his administration most of the US seaports were being managed by foreign companies.

While the Hillary poll made big news in the local news media, the national elite media gave the poll scant coverage. To many Americans Hillary is a saint, but to many others she is a pariah. A case in point is a story that appeared in the New York Observer, a liberal-left newspaper: During New York's giant Saint Patrick's Day Parade, Sen. Hillary Clinton was the only politician who was booed by some parade spectators as she walked by. Also, when Hillary gave a speech in front of an audience comprised of many firefighters and police officers, she was booed.
