Fact: Barack Obama is president, thanks to ACORN and the liberal media establishment.

Fact: ACORN whistleblower and now ex-radical Anita MonCrief hopefully voted for Obama, yet made available information showing Obama's unfitness to be president to The New York Times and ABC as well as to me, but that information did not appear on the public radar screen.

Matt Cover, "Hoyer Wants More Facts on ACORN Before Pulling Funding" (September 22, 2009): "ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, has come under scrutiny recently after the release of multiple videos apparently showing ACORN employees instructing two journalists posing as a pimp and a prostitute on how to file taxes for an illegal business."

CNSNews.com to House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D. Md.): “You voted a couple of days ago for an amendment which prohibited federal funding from going to ACORN. Are you committed to ensuring that a final bill which prohibits federal funding of ACORN passes this year and will you urge President Obama to sign that bill into law?”

Hoyer: “I think we’re going to be looking at what in fact are the facts here with respect to ACORN. Once we find out what the facts are then we’ll be in a better position to make a determination [on funding].”

Hoyer's right...about the appropriateness of making a determination on funding based on the facts.

The sting on ACORN has shown that some ACORN employees not only did not approve laws against prostitution, child prostitution, bank fraud, tax fraud and illegal immigration, but offered to help James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles violate those laws.

Due to the way the five visits by the intrepid investigators to ACORN offices in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., New York, San Bernardino and San Diego were released (for which Andrew Breitbart appears to deserve credit), ACORN compounded its problems by trying to play the victim and race cards and denying the demonstrably true.

But Hoyt and his fellow Democrats apparently need more.

Mr. Hoyer, meet Ms. MonCrief.

More has been available since before Election Day 2008, thanks to ACORN whistleblower Anita MonCrief.

But the liberal media establishment was promoting the Obama presidential candidacy instead of scrutinizing him.

As Ms. MonCrief has put it this year, ACORN is a criminal enterprise that was created to subvert and overwhelm the system.

I believed it long ago, but Ms. MonCrief can prove it.

In "Blame Obama’s ACORN for the Financial Crisis," posted on September 29, 2008, I connected ACORN to the financial crisis and Obama. I quoted from Pittsburgh Tribune Review, “Barack Obama’s Closet,” Dateline D.C., January 14, 2007--"Prior to law school, Barack Obama worked as an organizer for their affiliates in New York and Chicago. He always has been an ACORN person -- meeting and working with them to advance their causes. Through his membership on the board of the Woods Fund for Chicago and his friendship with Teresa Heinz Kerry, Obama has helped ensure that they remain funded well"--and warned: "Don’t expect the mainstream media to identify ACORN and its favorite community organizer and lawyer, rookie United States Senator and current Democrat presidential nominee Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. among the villains in the current financial crisis."

Ms. MonCrief read my article and emailed me on October 7, 2008 that she had personal knowledge and proof of a corrupt political relationship between ACORN and the Obama presidential campaign.

In "Beware Obama, 'The Senator from ACORN,” posted on October 1, 2008, I asked:

"How many people will rookie United States Senator and 2008 Democrat presidential nominee Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. still be fooling on Election Day 2008?

"Will the current financial crisis that finally resulted from affirmative action lending and intimidation tactics to which Obama is connected ironically make him the next President of the United States?"

I evaluated the situation this way:

"If Obama moves into the White House in 2009, it will be because his involvement with ACORN (the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) was not generally appreciated and NOT because Stanley Kurtz, a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center and a National Review Online contributing editor, did not give fair warning.

"Tragically, the biased mainstream media essentially has been giving Obama a pass on his relationship with ACORN.

"Non-partisan National Journal ranked Obama as the most liberal of the 100 United States Senators. That means that Obama beat out Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who honestly identifies himself as a Socialist.

"Obama is 'a savvy and exceedingly effective political player' too. He feigns moderation even as some of his media supporters suggest that he show 'passion.' He is resolved not to appear angry and aggressive, lest he lose swing voters. But his long-term relationship with ACORN speaks volumes about where his heart is and what a threat he really is."

In "ACORN Should Be Obama’s Undoing," posted on October 2, 2008, I predicted: "We will never know exactly how many fraudulent votes ACORN will be responsible for in the upcoming presidential election, but If the whole truth about ACORN and its long and intimate relationship with rookie United States Senator and 2008 Democrat presidential nominee Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. becomes fully and generally known, on Election Night 2008 Obama and his ACORNites will moan."

I concluded the article: "Why not vote for Obama? Obama is Far Left extremist ACORN’s guy! That’s a huge reason why!"

In "Michelle Malkin Was Right about ACORN, Of Course," posted on October 4, 2008, I reported:

"Michelle [Malkin]on Obama and ACORN: 'Where does the candidate of Hope and Change -- the candidate of Reform and New Politics -- stand on the issue? Barack Obama, ACORN's senator, is for more of the same old, same old subsidizing of far-left politics in the name of fighting for the poor while enriching ideological cronies. It's the Chicago way.'

"The Chicago way is NOT the American way!

"ACORN, a key culprit in the current economic mess, made Obama a local, statewide and national political success, but awareness of what ACORN really is and how Obama has served it as organizer, trainer, lawyer and funder and received its political support (legal or not) in return can and should put an end to that political success in the nick of time."

In "Obama Democrats Caused and Prolonged the Financial Crisis," posted on October 6, 2008, I summarized political reality:

"Voter ignorance is the biggest advantage for Obama and the Democrats. much bigger than voter fraud.

"But the truth can set us free and block an Obama presidency!"

My articles had an important effect (albeit not on nearly enough voters): Ms. MonCrief chose to contact me, because the final versions of the ACORN articles in The New York Times on which she was a confidential source were "watered down' and she wisely recognized that Times might cover up instead of report the illicit relationship between ACORN and the Obama campaign.

On October 7, 2008, Ms. MonCrief emailed me succinctly: "I worked at Project Vote and ACORN for years and can provide inside information on the connections with Obama and FEC violations, IRS 501 (c)3 violations and the threats and intimidation that ACORN has used to keep me quiet. I am willing to submit to a polygraph and turn over Obama's 2nd quarter donor list [which] was obtained by Project Vote Development Director Karyn Gillette directly from the Obama Campaign. I also have a DNC list that was forwarded to Project Vote along with donor lists for Kerry and Clinton.”

New York Times national correspondent Stephanie Strom, for whom Ms. MonCrief had been a confidential source for months, was right about Ms. MonCrief being "a gold mine."

Mining required, but genuine gold, not fool's gold.

But the liberal media establishment was not going there.

On October 22, 2008, the day after Ms. Strom was ordered by "higher up" to "stand down," in "ACORN WHISTLEBLOWER: OBAMA’S THIRD STRIKE?," I reported that, as follows: "Yesterday, Anita advised me, Ms. Strom apologetically canceled a meeting for today and explained that New York Times policy was not to publish what might be a game changing article this close to the election."

It WOULD have been "a game changer," but the liberal media establishment rigged the game.

In "John Fund: Do The Expose BEFORE the Election This Year. Please," posted on October 28, 2008, I wrote: "It's 2008 and Election Day is nearly upon us. So it's time for Mr. Fund to report what's really been going on this year, while it is helpful to those voters who care about the integrity of the electoral process and the rule of law and haven't voted early. Say by tomorrow?"

The next day (October 29, 2008), in "Why Obama and ACORN Fear Anita MonCrief," I explained:

"Anita MonCrief is likeable as well as brave, bright, young, maternal, passionate, artistic and black. But now ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) and the Obama campaign need to destroy her because Anita's not an ACORN slave and Anita decided to reveal what ACORN and the Obama campaign want to conceal."

"...Obama looked into the camera during the last presidential debate and flat out lied to the American people about it (in his calm, seemingly non-threatening manner).

"ACORN is the organization with which Obama has been associated throughout his adult life, as organizer, trainer, lawyer, funder and political beneficiary...and Obama's Achilles heel.

"Anita reports revealing connections between ACORN and the Obama campaign based on personal knowledge.

"In late 2007, Anita reports, Anita received a call from the Obama campaign asking if this was the same Project Vote that Obama worked for in the 90's. With the staff retreat fresh in mind, Anita answered yes and sent an email to Zach Polett, Karyn Gillette, Nathan Henderson James, and Kevin Whelan stating that the campaign wanted someone to call them back regarding some media questions that were being asked at the time.

"In late 2007, Anita reports, Karyn Gillette approached Anita to tell her that she had direct contact with the Obama campaign and had obtained their donor lists. This meeting took place sometime in November of 2007 and may have even been a conference call between the campaign and Project Vote. Anita was given an excel spreadsheet to work with for cultivation of new donors. When Anita had trouble because of the duplicates, Karyn stated that she would contact her person at the campaign and see if they had another one.

"Anita reports that Karyn Gillette also provided lists obtained from the Kerry and Clinton campaigns, as well as the 2004 DNC donor lists, and that these lists were shared with the Political directors of roughly 12 ACORN battleground states in order to raise money for a $28 million dollar (number as of 11/2007) voter registration drive (based on direct and indirect knowledge and documents).

"Anita reports that research uncovered after the Radke embezzlement scandal showed that persons demanded a forensic audit and suggested a well-known, credible firm to do it, but Bertha Lewis told them that the auditors came back with a contract that was 'too expensive' and that's what Dale Radke told funders back when they were hoping Arthur Anderson would take over auditing (based on indirect knowledge and documents).

"Anita reports that ACORN and Project Vote used CCI to transfer money between the organizations and may be guilty of violating RICO statues (based on indirect knowledge and documents).

"Anita reports that Sidley Austin, Obama's old law firm, is representing ACORN pro-bono and Mesirow Financial, the firm hired to provide financial advice to ACORN, is headed by a major Obama donor, Richard Mesirow (based on indirect knowledge and documents).

"Anita also notes that questions have been raised about the shredding or destruction of documents by ACORN's own lawyers (based on documents).

"Bottom line: ACORN has been improperly coordinating with and operating as an arm of the Obama campaign, and 'the Senator from ACORN''s involvement with ACORN has been much more than his lawful representation of ACORN in the motor voter case years ago."

But not nearly enough of the ugly truth was reported in any of the so-called mainstream media before Election Day 2008.

It still has not been.

In "Acorn Who? Obama heads for the high grass," dated September 21, 2009, Fund concluded: "Given his longstanding ties with Acorn, President Obama's protestations of ignorance or disinterest in the group's latest scandal seem preposterous. Here's hoping White House reporters will press the president to clarify just how much he really knows about Acorn and when he knew it."

That's a great hope.

But Fund neglected to report what Ms. MonCrief knows and, without that, it is a futile hope.

Ms. MonCrief knows key facts and has damning evidence. She's shared not only with me, but also with (1) Michelle Malkin, (who has reported extensively on the Obama/ACORN scandal both in her best seller, Culture of Corruption, and at her website, www.michellemalkin.com), (2) Fox News viewers during interviews by Eric Shawn, Megyn Kelly and Bill O'Reilly and (3) Laura Ingraham and Internet radio listeners. In addition, she's posted important, fact-filled articles on her website, www.anitamoncrief.blogspot.com.

Ms. MonCrief, an observant, computer savvy, young black single mother who was inside "the belly of the beast," turned to the light and chose to do what's right, is President Obama's worst nightmare. If the American public learns what she knows, it will be more than Team Obama and ACORN can bear. Hopefully, Fox News will move on swiftly from sensationalism based on sex that predictably attracted great interest and expose the political corruption that has put America and traditional American values in grave jeopardy. THAT would be change we really could believe in. If Fox News relies on Ms. MonCrief, then, YES WE CAN!

Michael J. Gaynor has been practicing law in New York since 1973. A former partner at Fulton, Duncombe & Rowe and Gaynor & Bass, he is a solo practitioner admitted to practice in New York state and federal courts and an Association of the Bar of the City of New York member.
