The other Rev. Wright scandal is the politically correct media's failure to have exposed the pathetic Obama-Wright relationship long before the Iowa caucuses.

Dino Costa, host of a spirited Colorado-based sports radio show that's much more than a sports show, is proud to be politically incorrect, and I am proud to be an occasional guest on his show.

Dino and I shared the same politically incorrect view of the Duke case when innocent young men were being reviled in the mainstream media, abandoned by politically correct Duke University and persecuted for personal political purposes by an ambitious white Democrat desperate for black votes in the then upcoming Durham County, North Carolina district attorney Democrat primary.

We were right, of course.

Currently we agree that the politically correct media that tried to railroad three innocent young white men on the say-so of an ex-convict black stripper is working hard to help rookie United States Senator and current frontrunner for the 2008 Democrat presidential candidate Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. survive his Rev. Jeremiah A. "God damn America" Wright, Jr. scandal.

Make no mistake: The Rev. Wright scandal shows that Obama is unfit to be President of the United States, whichever way you look at it. If he did not know how anti-America, anti-white and crazed his spiritual mentor and pastor for twenty years was, he's too oblivious to be president; if he knew (and I don't think of Obama as oblivious, much less THAT oblivious), then he either quietly pretended to acquiesce, as a rank political opportunist, or actually acquiesced, and, in either case, obviously lacks the character needed in a President of the United States.

Dino recently asked me on his show what would have happened if it had suddenly been discovered that a white presidential candidate had quietly tolerated a white anti-American, anti-black pastor for twenty years and claimed that this pastor had brought him to Jesus Christ.

I replied that the hypothetical presidential candidate's campaign would have imploded and cited as evidence the Republican Party establishment having disassociated itself from David Duke after he somehow won a Republican Party primary to become the Republican Party candidate for governor of Louisiana years ago. The Democrat opponent, Edwin Edwards, a crook who ended up in jail, was considered preferable in a race between two terribly flawed persons, neither of whom deserved to hold any public office.

Dino earlier had asked me a similar question--whether the media would have treated the Duke case the same way if the false accuser had been white and the persons accused had been black.

The answer--NO!--was obvious to both of us.

This time, we discussed what is the generally unappreciated media scandal involving Rev. Wright: the media waiting a year to address the relationship between Obama and Rev. Wright.

In March of 2007, The New York Times reported that Obama had "disinvited" Rev. Wright to his announcement of his presidential campaign, on the advice of an unnamed campaign adviser, and told Rev. Wright that it was necessary to do so because his sermons could be "rough."

Voters in Iowa should be furious that The New York Times did not follow up back then.

If it had, would Barack have won the Iowa caucuses?

Of course not.

Iowans expect much more from a presidential candidate.

The Democrat race would have ended on Super Tuesday, with Hillary Rodham Clinton the clear winner.

But the same politically correct media that persecuted the Duke Three (and their teammates) wanted Barack to be a viable candidate and turned away instead of investigating those "rough" sermons and reporting the kind of information that would have caused the Obama campaign to implode.

Unfortunately, the media has helped Obama use his speech on race in America to divert attention from the ugly truth that Obama knew or should have known what kind of man his spiritual mentor is for many years, remained silent and even brought his young daughters to hear Rev. Wright's sermons, when it was or should have been obvious that he might say something hateful on any given Sunday.

If Obama had left Rev. Wright's church (as Obama's most prominent supporter, Oprah Winfrey, did), he would have earned the respect of fair-minded people.

He didn't.

He's a political opportunist who stayed because Rev. Wright was a key to fulfilling his prior political ambitions..and continues to stay in Trinity United Church of Christ and refuses to "disown" Rev. Wright, supposedly because "disowning" Rev. Wright would be equivalent to "disowning" "the black community" or his white grandmother, who didn't publicly call upon God to damn America, accuse America of inventing the AIDS virus as a weapon to exterminate black people or suggest that America deserved to be attacked by terrorists on September 11, 2001, but supposedly did things just as bad: privately confide to Barack that she feared black strangers when she came upon them in the street and "more than once" used "racial stereotypes" that made Barack "cringe."

If Barack were all white instead of half white and half black, he would not be the political correctness candidate that the politically correct media is working overtime to put in the White House.

1984 Democrat vice presidential candidate Geraldine A. Ferraro was candid instead of politically correct when she said that Obama's race and gender were political assets in his contest with Hillary Rodham Clinton.

She also was right...as Dino knows.

Michael J. Gaynor has been practicing law in New York since 1973. A former partner at Fulton, Duncombe & Rowe and Gaynor & Bass, he is a solo practitioner admitted to practice in New York state and federal courts and an Association of the Bar of the City of New York member.
