Maine Is Going Insane!

School prayer in public schools has been replaced with drugs, guns and now birth-control pills and aborticides.

L. Brent Bozell III, president of the Media Research Center: "[T]he King School in Portland, Maine voted Yes to secret contraceptives for 11-year-olds."

Once the slogan was, "As Maine goes, so goes the Nation."

Fortunately, after FDR carried 46 of the then 48 states, James Farley revised it to "As Maine goes, so goes Vermont."

A Portland, Maine middle school board recently voted, 7 to 2, to allow eleven year olds whose parents have enrolled them in the school and authorized medical care to receive birth-control pills (even aborticides) and the patch without their parents' knowledge.

So much for schools working with parents instead of against them!

Parents: your tax dollars at work AGAINST you!

Where is the media outrage?

ABC's Diane Sawyer hosted a Good Morning America debate on the topic and supported the policy: “You may want parents to go in and take care of their own children and make sure that they're not sexually active that young, but it's happening. It's happening."

Dr. Nancy Snyderman on Today: "“Now the nurse in this story, as a public health care advocate, knowing that kids are having sex, her job is to protect them then, to keep them from having unwanted pregnancies. So, I, I get that.”

Neil Steinberg of The Chicago Sun-Times: “It's up to parents to keep their kids from having sex when they're 12, but when they fail – and obviously they do – it's up to the schools to make sure those kids still go to school. Keeping them from getting pregnant is a valid academic policy.

The secular extremists are remaking America in THEIR image.

"Father Knows Best" used to be a popular television series.

Now that Portland school board knows best.

Nature abhors a vacuum.

School prayer in public schools has been replaced with drugs, guns and now birth-control pills and aborticides.

Why?

In 1947 the Supremes suddenly decided that government had to neutral between religion and irreligion and must not support religion generally, so school prayer was blocked.

By the tragic results, we really should be disgusted, and motivated, but hardly shocked.

An effort is underway to recall three of the seven who voted perversely.

Hopefully, it will succeed and the perverse policy will be rescinded.

But the genesis of such things--the United States Supreme Court decision know as Everson v. Board of Education--desperately needs to be modified, before "under God" is removed from "The Pledge of Allegiance" and "In God We Trust" from America's currency and coin.

Judicial Confirmation Network Legal Counsel Wendy E. Long explained a few years ago in a Washington Times oped : "A liberal minority needs federal judges to advance their agenda — allowing child pornography as free speech, mandating same-sex marriage, removing 'under God' from the Pledge of Allegiance, banning school prayer and preventing the death penalty for murderers and terrorists — because they can't win these issues at the ballot box."

Add to the list (in the words of Mr. Bozell): "encouraging sex between children" and "waging a war on anyone who suggests a limitation, anyone who wants to draw a line."

Rudy Giuliani says that if enough states allow so-called same-sex marriage, he's support a constitutional amendment to protect traditional marriage.

That like waiting to retaliate for a terrorist attack instead of preventing it!

What America needs is another president who will appoint justice and judges who will follow the law instead of make it up to suit the secular extremists.

Mrs. Long: "Our country faces a new generation of challenges, which has presented our courts with a new generation of legal issues. As Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney witnessed firsthand the impact our courts can have when facing these new challenges. I believe that he, better than any other candidate for President, understands the need for our courts to respect democracy and the will of the people. I believe that he, better than any other candidate for President, would nominate judges and justices of the highest caliber, who would be faithful to the text, history, and principles of our Constitution."

That's the person America needs to elect, to keep its self-respect.
