Don't Sign Jessica's Law-Political Scam Targets Mentally Ill and Teens
Similar laws already in place in other states are having devastating consequences ensnaring teens in the process.

To see citizen responses to this opinion piece, links to statistics, news articles, and studies about treatment paste links below into your browser after reading my op-ed. There are two different article links posted here for your thoughtful consideration and research of the facts.

Teens have become ensnared for life in harsh sex offender laws. The Bureau of Justice reports a 3.5% repeat offender rate which is the lowest of all the categories of offenders. Most of these crimes that actually occur (80 to 95%) occur within the families or from a known person. Less than 10% of child molestation cases are from strangers.

Of those from strangers very few are of the "snatch-and-run" type. This hype is strictly for vote-getting and not at all a solution to prevent the mental illness that causes child molestation. Billions will be spent on more prisons, more prison guards and the children who belong to these prisoners will be cast into a foster care system where child molestation takes place every day.

We must remember that all it takes for a conviction of any sex offense in California is an accusation due to our corrupt criminal justice system.

What is proposed by all the political "tough on crime" hype are not actually solutions to the problem. We as citizens must be vigilant and not allow the politicians to dupe us into feeding the prison industry with our teens and young people, or stealing any more of our precious tax dollars to build up law enforcement labor unions. The article lengths are too long to post here but make certain that you do your research as the teen you save, might be your own. Most research indicates that as many as 40% of child molesters are under the age of 20. Teens are also being prosecuted for having sex with one another, urinating in an alley, "peeping", and other crimes that lump them in with child murderers. What the hell is going on here?
