Tiller the Killer

Author's Note: This article was first published January 2003. I am re-publishing it today (with minor revisions) because "Doctors" are still becoming millionaires by murdering the most innocent among us - our unborn children. Infants in the womb have recently achieved legal recognition as "unborn children." We need to build on that momentum. This article gives suggestions of ways that YOU can help make a difference.

At a time when our nation should be in mourning, an abortion clinic in Kansas is celebrating by giving away free abortions! This week marks the thirtieth anniversary of one of the most shameful decisions ever handed down in American jurisprudence - Roe vs. Wade. Americans should be hanging their heads in shame for allowing our politicians and judges to sanction the murder of 44 Million innocents over the last thirty years. And these conscienceless abortionists are celebrating by performing murder for free.

The monster responsible for this disgusting publicity stunt is "Doctor" George Tiller.

I place Tiller's title in quotation marks because he doesn't deserve the respect shown to real doctors. Tiller, like all medical doctors, took a Hippocratic Oath that required him to preserve life when he graduated. Instead he has chosen to enrich himself by ending the lives of infants in the third trimester of pregnancy. Even pro-death proponents agree that infants in the last three months of pregnancy can usually survive outside the womb, but the bloodthirsty "Doctor" Tiller is only concerned with how many babies' lives he can end, and how much money he can make doing so. (Note: Pro-death people prefer to call themselves pro-choice, but I find that term repugnant and misleading. Only the people killing the baby have any "choice." I am sure that if the baby were consulted, he or she would make a different "choice" in the matter of life or death.)

"Doctor" Tiller's clinic in Wichita, Kansas, specializes in these so-called late-term abortions. There are some abortionists whose morals do not allow them to dismember and remove infants from their mother's womb after the second trimester. Tiller has no such compunctions - he seeks out such cases. He is more than willing to do what only the worst of abortionists will do - end the lives of perfectly formed infants who could live outside the womb. The mothers, in most cases, do this for convenience. Tiller does it because it has made him rich.

Tiller attends the Reformation Lutheran church in Wichita. This fact leads me to believe that one of the following is true. Either the minister of the church in question does not preach what the Bible teaches regarding the sanctity of life, or Tiller's heart is so hardened that he refuses to hear the truth. I have never heard of an abortionist attending a Bible-believing, Bible-teaching church, so I suspect that the former is true.

Interestingly, Tiller began performing abortions in 1973, the same year that Roe vs. Wade made abortions legal. This fact leads me to believe that one of the following is true. Tiller may have been performing illegal abortions already, and developed a taste for death. Or he may have just been an aspiring entrepreneur, waiting for the opportunity to be one of the first in a new growth industry. In either case, I don't understand how he can sleep at night.

If you have a strong stomach, visit Tiller's website - http://www.drtiller.com/. If you don't understand how public relations experts can twist the truth and make even the vilest activities seem acceptable, you may be fooled by the slick presentation. However, I like to think that my readers are more intelligent than that, so let me direct you to three buttons you should click on his website.

The first is "Late Abortion Care for Fetal Anomaly." On this page Tiller tries to convince us that the abortions he performs on late-term babies are acceptable by presenting a long list of terrible birth defects such as spina bifida.

Conspicuous by its absence is the long list of "birth defects" such as Down Syndrome which abortionists consider legitimate grounds for late-term abortion. If you have ever had the privilege of spending time with a Down's child, you know how awful it is to murder such children before they are born. You know that they are sweet and loving, and bring joy to their families. Visit http://www3.sympatico.ca/terry.edwards/Shelby.html to see how one family describes their "angel" and the HAPPY life she leads. As you read about Shelby, try to imagine the result if the Tillers of this world and their Clinic "counselors" had influenced her parents.

Second, click "Late Abortion Care Elective." First, note the word "care." There is no "care" in an abortion - only destruction. On this page Tiller admits that he specializes "…in 'late' abortion care." He states that he doesn't perform abortions "when the fetus is viable." Sounds reasonable, doesn't it? But then he goes on to explain that determining the viability of the "fetus" is left strictly to the "physician." How can we trust that determination when it is made by a physician whose entire career has been built around killing babies? By the way, abortionists love to use the Latin word "fetus" instead of "baby," because they want to dehumanize the infant and try to make us think of him or her as a lump of tissue. Unfortunately for them and their evil attempts at public relations, "fetus" MEANS "baby" in Latin.

Third, click on the "Chaplaincy Program" button. This is the most insidious page on this malignant site. When you go there you will see a photo of a kindly looking man wearing a priests' collar. This is a disgusting and transparent attempt to make visitors believe that God approves of abortion. After all, he is a minister of some sort isn't he? He's wearing a collar. And he does look like a nice man. If nice people approve, abortion musk be OK, right? I can't imagine what kind of "minister" would allow himself to be used in such a mockery. A "Chaplain" for an abortion mill? That makes as much sense as Hitler providing chaplains at his gas chambers.

This article really isn't about Tiller. He is just a proxy for the thousands of other evil men and women, physicians and businessmen alike, who profit from the death of innocent babies. No, this article is really about you, the people of America.

Only you can stop Tiller and the rest of the pro-death movement. "What can I do?" you say. I'm glad you asked.

First, stop being afraid to speak the truth. Abortion is wrong; abortion is murder. Don't worry about what others think. So what if people laugh at you? That may cause you emotional pain, but it is nothing compared to the pain the infant feels when the "doctor" poisons him or her with saline, or cuts him or her into small pieces for easy removal from the womb. (Yes, infants in the womb feel pain. Do the research. See http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,33437,00.html and hundreds of similar articles on the web.)

Second, get involved. Write letters to your elected representatives. Join pro-life organizations. Volunteer at a crisis pregnancy center - there's one in practically every town. Don't say, "I can't do anything." There's a lot you can do - if you're willing.

Finally, don't think you're alone. The majority of Americans believe that abortion should be legal in situations where the mother's life is in danger, or where the pregnancy occurred because of rape. But they do NOT believe that abortion should be used as birth control. The liberal media have done a masterful job of convincing America that the majority has accepted abortion, so there is nothing that can be done about it. But if you read the opinion polls carefully, you will see that most Americans do not approve of abortion when the only reason for killing the baby is that the parents were too stupid or too lazy to use easily available contraception.

We need to separate the issues. Medically necessary abortion to save a mother's life is a terrible decision that I hope none of you will ever have to face. Few people believe the law should prohibit abortion in that instance. Please note that I refer to abortions that are necessary to save a mother's life. Almost all so-called "medically necessary abortions" today have nothing to do with a threat to the mother. Instead, the mother's "emotional health" is cited. In most cases this means that she decided she doesn't want the baby after all, and is upset. Or some minor health problem is used as an excuse.

I believe most Christians would carry a baby to term even if the pregnancy resulted from rape. After all, the baby didn't do anything wrong, so why should he or she die? And adoption is always available. But most don't feel the law should require the mother to carry the baby in these circumstances.

Only a tiny percentage of all abortions are performed because of true medical necessity or rape.

Abortion for convenience is an entirely different matter. The majority of America believes that is not a legitimate reason for an abortion. The vast majority of abortions are performed for two reasons. The most common is that the couple was simply careless. The other reason is that the mother changes her mind after deciding to have a baby. Perhaps her boyfriend has broken up with her. Perhaps she has lost her job. Whatever the reason, this category results in most of the late term abortions.

I believe our strategy should be to separate abortion for convenience from truly medically necessary abortions and abortions due to rape. Abortion as birth control should be illegal, as it was for most of the years this nation has existed.

Abortionists do not become millionaires by performing medically necessary abortions. There are too few of them. However, there is no shortage of women who prefer to kill a baby growing in their womb rather than use responsible birth control.
