U.S. National Sovereignty Soon to Be LOST at Sea?
Yes, this is the same U.N. whose members either hate us outright or sneer at us in a veiled manner as they unrelentingly grab for more power over this country. Yes, this is the same U.N. that gave us the oil for food scandal, which made some people rich while using the aegis of the U.N. to do so. Yes, the same U.N. which oversaw the blue helmet units raping the most defenseless in poor countries. These U.N. squads were called “peacekeepers”, more lies from that body. Yes, this is the same U.N. that entertains condemnations of the U.S. and Israel by such countries as Libya, Syria, and Cuba, whose human rights records are abysmal. Imagine that, these despots preaching to the U.S., which has more freedom and human rights than all of them put together.
This LOST treaty is just the latest, but serious attempt. It has been around for several years, but is now being brought out by its promoters because they think the Congress is made up now of those who might be willing to destroy the sovereignty of the U.S., that is, more Democrats. The usual RINOs are involved. Senator Richard Lugar, Republican, has been a longtime advocate of this treaty. He has accepted contributions from the Citizens for Global Solutions, a pro-global world government lobby.
President Ronald Reagan recognized the potential harm a LOST treaty would cause this country and wisely rejected it. That was twenty-five years ago. It seems the globalists just wait until they think enough of their ilk are sitting in the U.S. Senate to possibly pass it.
According to Cliff Kincaid, in his “The Seasick Law of the Sea Treaty” article dated September 26, 2007, his group “America’s Survival, Inc." (ASI), has information for American citizens:
“Our message: The U.N.’s law of the Sea Treaty is the biggest giveaway of American sovereignty and resources since the Panama Canal Treaty. It lays the groundwork for another U.N. corruption scandal worse than oil-for-food. This is what you need to tell your Senators:
How treaty creates three new U.N. bureaucracies
How the treaty sets up a scheme to facilitate bribes and payoffs to U.N. officials. and employees with revenue derived from a global tax on America.
How China stands to benefit from U.S. Senate ratification of the pact.
How a U.N. Commission created by the treaty could hand over North Pole riches to Russia.
What many Americans do not realize is that treaties take primacy over our own Supreme Court. Disagreements of the parties go to unelected, and mostly unknown to us, tribunals. These tribunals are made up of people from countries that regularly denounce the U.S. and show an outright hostility to us. Russia is making offensive moves in the Arctic region right now, trying to establish itself as the legal owner of the resources there. What would happen when this becomes serious and is brought to a tribunal over our own Supreme Court? Do you think our chances are good to prevail, considering that most of the countries in the U.N. have shown hostility towards us and there are a lot more socialist countries than democracies?
Who will oversee the potentially massive “fees” provided to the International Seabed Authority (ISA)? Who will oversee the ISA bureaucrats and employees to preclude another oil-for-food scandal? Who will set these “fees” and who decides on who pays them? And, who do you think will pay the most of these “fees”? Who pays the most in “dues” right now to keep the U.N. going? Yes, good old American taxpayers. Right now, there are members of the ISA who are not paying their “dues” to ISA. These other countries know that they can get away with ignoring the treaties they sign when they want to do so, but they also know that the United States takes its obligations seriously and that we will honor our treaties.
Of course, this is just another Instance of milking the taxpayers of the U.S. for everything they can. The U.N., which was billed as a harmless debating group, is now rushing headlong to grab whatever power it can amass to itself. The power to tax is one of the most powerful means to control people, if not THE most powerful.
On September 30, 2007, a Senate hearing on the U.N.’s Law of the Sea Treaty was held, at which Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska asked Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte about the claims of Russia to Arctic gas, oil and mineral deposits near her own state. Cliff Kincaid reports:
“In response to a Murkowski question, Negroponte said the U.S. could not dispute the Russian claim without ratifying the treaty. But this was another false assertion. The U.S. provided information to the U.N. Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf several years ago rebutting a previous Russian claim to the area. Negroponte did not explain what would happen if the U.N. body, once we had ratified the treaty, decided to turn Arctic riches over to the Russians. The answer, of course, is that we would abide by such a disastrous decision, which would cost us access to billions of dollars worth of oil, gas and minerals……….”
Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte, accompanied by State Department Legal Advisor John B. Bellinger III, were sent out by President Bush to advocate for the LOST treaty. They were asked penetrating questions and showed either an ignorance of just what was in the treaty, or a willingness to deceive the Senate members there. Neither possibility is reassuring.
It should be noted that both of these men are listed as members of the Council on Foreign Relations, the very same globalist group that is promoting the Security and Prosperity Partnership, more commonly known as the North American Union (NAU). The NAU is being formulated now, mostly in secret, by cabinet members and other government employees. It would merge the countries of Mexico, the U.S. and Canada into one union. Not content with sublimating our own Constitution and laws to a three-way union, now some in the president’s administration are working hard to entangle us in LOST, which would give away our rights to assets in the seas that have always been claimed by us. It would also subject us to the rule of the U.N., with the very valuable right to tax us.
If you don’t want to see this treaty adopted by the Senate, now is the time to let your senator know. It seems to be on the fast track to voting and not enough of our representatives know much about it. If we wait much longer, the U.N. will be the winner and the rights of the American citizens will be LOST.
